Well I am back from my backpacking trip. It was a lot of fun. We went to the Shanendoah mountains in Virgina. About 2 hours west of Arlington. There were 5 women that went. We went Friday and came back Saturday afternoon. The first of the hike was easy and peaceful. The last 2 miles of the first day were a killer! We hiked up to the peak of the mountain. This was the beautiful view at sunset. We didn't see any great camp sites on the way so we decided to camp out under the stars on the lookout deck. Which by the way we had taken off the backpacks the last mile to walk up to the lookout. We had to walk back down and get the backpacks to walk back up! It actually turned out to be better then sleeping in a tent. The stars were so big and beautiful. We enjoyed some freeze dried food from REI I had the chicken and potatos and green beans. Not bad at all. We even had smores after. I didn't get the best sleep that night but it was still a lot of fun sleeping under the stars. The next morning we woke up to the most beautiful sunrise. Which I will put the pictures on next. We found also that everything was wet when we got up from the dew. This picture is me at sunset on the deck where we spent the night.
