Well some exciting news about Sofia tonight we took away the soft pillows behind her and this is what happened. She is sitting up!!!!! She is doing so well. Last week she was sitting up on her own for about 5 minutes but would tip over. I had to stay behind her. After working with her a lot in the day on sitting it has taken a week and now she is sitting. She has figured out to balance herself with her legs. Thanks so much to her PT Rene and all her help to get to this point. I am so amazed at how well she is doing. She is so tiny and I can't believe she is doing this so soon. I am just so happy about her progress. Some more stuff on what we have been up too. A few weeks ago I posted about Sofia getting ear tubes. I got really nervous about it and didn't know if I really wanted to get it done. Well after talking to many moms, getting a 2ND opinion, reading some books and also talking with her pediatrician I felt like I could make an informed decision. I have to say her pediatrician is wonderful. She met with Sofia and I at an appointment and ended up talking to us for an hour! She brought out some medical books about the ear and information on fluid in the ear and how tubes can help with the fluid and this in turn will help her language development. I really felt like the Doctor cared about me and Sofia and my concerns. She really put me at ease. Sofia's doctor has been amazing, even though her specialty isn't with DS she is trying to learn and get information for us. One time at an appointment Milan was with us and Milan was getting a little impatient. She wanted me to read a book to her while the Doctor was trying to talk to me. Well the Doctor stopped what she was doing took Milan in her lap and read the book to her. There have been multiple times the Doctor has called us at home to see how we are and see how Sofia is doing. I can't say enough good things about this doctor. Also some other great news my Doctor got me a referral to see Dr. Rosembaum the geneticist who specializes in DS. We found out he takes my insurance. There are only 2 doctors in the area who specialize in this field and I also can see her. My doctor is getting referrals for both and I can see both to see which one I like best. Now that is wonderful news. This is turning into a long post. Back to the ear tubes. I decided to go with the procedure. Sofia had the tubes put in last Friday. It went well. They let me go into the OR with them while they got her ready and they used a gas anesthesia not an iv. I was able to sing to her so she could stay calm as she went to sleep. It was overall a positive experience. After she woke up she was a little cranky but back to her normal self. I am happy to report she is babbling a lot more and does not seem to be affected by the surgery. Her ENT said the tubes went in fine no problems.

Sofia looks so great! It's cute to see her sitting there all by herself. I'm glad her tubes are working out.
Good news. And can I just say she is the cutest thing ever!
Oh my goodness--look at her!!!!! She's such an amazing little girl! Glad the tube surgery went well, and I just can't believe she's sitting on her own already!! Yay, Sofia!
By the way, we see Dr. Lewanda, who we love, but I've heard amazing things about Dr. Rosenbaum, too. I'm so glad you have a choice in this, and glad you're going to see one of them. I think geneticists are very important for our kids.
Anyway, it sound like things are going so well, and I'm so sad we're not neighbors anymore. But I know we'll see each other again soon! As soon as we finish unpacking we'll have you over!
Wow, it sounds like you have a great pediatrician.
I'm so happy that the surgery went well. Congrats to Sophia for sitting up!!
